Oaktree brings Montessori activities into Chinese-language early education. Children explore materials and practise doing things for themselves, with Mandarin woven into the experience.

One-to-one Mandarin in a small room. A different experience from a social playgroup, with the teacher’s attention almost entirely on one child.
What the session was like

- The level of parent involvement adjusted to preference
What we loved
- Mandarin throughout and the close attention a private session allows
What we noticed
- The teacher adjusted how much to step in according to the parent’s preference
- The work was closely supervised, with less roaming and no peer group. The room was stimulating rather than spacious
Worth knowing
- There were stairs to the room and to the toilet. Plan ahead with a pram
- We would choose this for focused Mandarin time, rather than a wider playgroup experience
