I started taking my son to classes when he was 3 months old and we must have been to over 20 classes now. Researching classes was a mini job in itself, asking for recommendations in WhatsApp groups, filtering out of date websites and top 10 lists and trying to time the nap windows.
Sometimes we would rock up at a fantastic new class and find that we were the only student there – nice to have the attention and everything but also a real shame to see an empty classroom when it’s so tough for small businesses in Hong Kong.
So I started bulb as a way to help families find great learning providers, and to help providers make their offerings more easily accessible to families.

We chose the name bulb as a nod to a lightbulb (excellent idea) and to planting and growing a bulb

We wanted lots of photos, videos and info in one place
As well as up to date timetables, easy to use filters and save lists
A way to get personal recommendations and save lists for next time
Personal notes on what the classes were like from our visits

Stories from behind the scenes, the founders, teachers and what they care about
It’s a constant work in progress and we hope it can be helpful to families looking for the right classes for your child. You can check out some of the chats with founders here, some generous offers that providers are extending to families here and events to try some of the best classes in town: Babyhood & Toddlerhood.
If you are a parent who loves classes and would like to support this initiative, feel free to get in touch with me anytime.

Based in Hong Kong and always up for a chat!
A rather mighty track record for a (not even) two year old!
Along the way, we attended birthday parties at a variety of fantastic venues across Hong Kong Island. Here’s a list of playrooms for rainy days and special occasions
