Parent Infant Program groups babies by developmental stage, using purposeful movement and play to practise skills from rolling and sitting to crawling and first steps. Parents and caregivers join in and learn ways to support the same skills at home.

What we thought
Parent Infant Program
Sheung Wan
Age-matched baby group
Up to 6 babies
English
A gentle session with close attention to each baby, and useful things for us to take home too.
What the session was like
Simple exercises using props
Reaching, dipping, rolling and pulling to stand
Guided use of soft obstacles and supports
Gross motor, fine motor and proprioceptive work
Closing massage with natural oil
What we loved
Individual support rather than asking every baby to do the same thing
A written report with observations and ideas to try at home
What we noticed
Exercises changed with each baby’s stage and confidence. Feeding, crying or taking a break did not feel like an interruption
The room was bright, warm and softly equipped; the teacher’s calm attention included the parents
Worth knowing
Nappies-off participation was encouraged but optional when we attended. Feeding and changing facilities were available
Both entrances to Casey Building had steps: worth planning for with a pram
